Cascina delle Rose Barbera d'Alba Superiore Donna Elena 2018 (750ml) Italy Italy Pinot Grigio between 14 and 29 SeptemberThe Barbera d'Alba Superiore Donna Elena opens with a burst of black cherry, plum, chocolate and blood orange notes that convey the exotic style of the year so well. Medium in body yet pliant. There is enough structure to support at least a handful of years in the cellar, but also there is no reason at all to delay gratification. The Donna Elena is done entirely in cask, but there are distinct suggestions of sweetness in the fruit.
