The brothers Doppler were born in Lemberg (modern Lvov, Ukraine), Franz in 1821, Karl in 1825. They toured extensively throughout Europe, often giving concerts alongside operatic soloists. Hence, many of their compositions are fantasies or variations based on songs from famous operas of the time.
