Living below the falls in Biddeford I got to know the cormorants

While walking at Biddeford Pool at sunset I was inspired to paint this scene by how the setting sun lit up the beach roses

I love the way they swim with their heads tilted up and the way they fly in a straight line with just their wings moving

Most of all I love the way they dive and fish - sometimes disappearing for an extended stay below the surface of the water

This was one of the more spectacular ones
