Day 1Drive from Shimla to Chitkul.

Drive Distance: 240 km | Drive Duration: 9-10 hours approx. | Altitude: Chitkul– 3450 m | Pick up point: ISBT, TUTIKANDI, SHIMLA.

Your winter adventure begins with a stunning drive from Shimla to Chitkul—the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border. As you ascend, the scenery shifts from pine forests to snow-covered slopes. Nestled beside the Baspa River, Chitkul welcomes you with its charming wooden houses, crisp winter air, and breathtaking white landscapes. Check into your warm homestay, immerse yourself in the beauty around, and enjoy a cosy dinner with locals.

Day 2Chitkul to Kalpa.

Drive Distance: 75 km approx. | Drive Duration: 3-4 hours approx. | Altitude: Kalpa – 2960 m.

After breakfast, begin a scenic winter drive to Kalpa, a peaceful village overlooking the majestic Kinner Kailash range. The drive feels magical as apple orchards, frozen waterfalls, and tiny hamlets appear along the route. Once in Kalpa, explore local temples, enjoy a calm village walk, and soak in the stunning sunset over the snow-clad mountains.

Day 3Kalpa to Tabo Via Nako and Gue Monastery.

A long yet mesmerizing drive takes you into the heart of the Trans-Himalayas. Your first stop is Nako, a high-altitude village known for its frozen lake and centuries-old monastery. Continue to Gue Monastery, home to a 500-year-old naturally preserved mummy of a Buddhist monk. By evening, arrive in Tabo—famous for its 1,000-year-old monastery filled with ancient murals and scriptures.

Day 4Tabo to Kaza Via Chicham Bridge, Key Monastery.

Drive through snow-covered landscapes and reach Chicham Bridge, Asia’s highest suspension bridge—an engineering marvel. Next, visit the iconic Key Monastery, beautifully perched on a hilltop. After exploring its prayer halls, murals, and monk culture, continue towards Kaza, the administrative center of Spiti.

Day 5Visit Langza, Komic, Hikkim and back to Kaza.

Explore the iconic high-altitude villages of Spiti. Begin at Langza, famous for its giant Buddha statue and fossil-rich terrain. Head to Komic—the world’s highest motorable village with its serene monastery. End at Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office. Return to Kaza for a relaxed winter evening.

    • We want to inform you that should you choose to withdraw from the trek, we will be unable to provide reimbursement for any costs related to accommodation or meals.

    • A delay due to Bad weather conditions will lead to buffer days, and Participants will have to bear the extra cost involved in the buffer day, as it is not included in the trip price.

Cancellation Policy & Refund Policy

    • Special Cancellation Policy 

    A) We have implemented a special cancellation policy:

    1.  Before 60 Days: 90% Refund.
    2.  31-60 Days: 75% Refund.
    3.  Within 30 Days: 50% Refund.
    4.  Within 14 Days: No Refund.

    Payment & Booking Policy

    A booking fee of ₹10,000 is required to confirm your spot. The remaining trek fee must be paid at least 30 days before the trek start date. If the full payment is not received on time, your booking may be cancelled. The ₹10,000 booking fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

    Our cancellation policy applies to the entire trek fee, not just the booking amount. For any questions or assistance with payment, feel free to contact us.

    B) Rescheduling Policy

    Rescheduling Within the Same Trip or Changing the Trek

    • Rescheduling is subject to availability.

    • Trek costs may vary depending on the location and will be adjusted accordingly.

    • Guests have the option to reschedule their trek and utilise the amount paid within 2 years.

    • Guests may also transfer their booking to another person, provided the new participant meets all eligibility, fitness, and document requirements for the trek.

    • Unforeseen Changes: In the event of an emergency, we may reroute treks to alternative trails. Mental preparedness for such situations is advised.
    • Documents Required: Trekkers must carry a photocopy of their photo ID, along with the mandatory Medical Certificate and Disclaimer forms for trek permissions before and during the trek.

Is this trip suitable for beginners?

Yes, the trip is designed to be beginner-friendly. While the terrain is remote and high-altitude, most of the journey is covered by road. However, travelers should be prepared for cold weather conditions and basic amenities in homestays.

What kind of accommodation is provided?

Accommodation will be in Hotels or homestays. Expect simple, clean rooms with warm bedding, traditional heating, and authentic local meals. The highlight is the cultural exchange and the warmth of local hospitality.

How cold does it get in Spiti during winter?

Temperatures in Spiti during winter range from –5°C to –25°C depending on the time of day and altitude. Proper winter gear (jackets, thermals, gloves, boots) is essential.

How do we travel during the trip?

All major transfers will be by a comfortable Tempo Traveller, or a suitable vehicle will be arranged for participants as needed. Roads may be snow-covered, making the drives longer, but the journey will remain incredibly scenic.

Is there mobile network and internet connectivity?

Connectivity in Spiti is limited. BSNL and Jio offer the best coverage, while Airtel may work in certain pockets. Internet access is minimal, so it’s wise to be prepared for a digital detox amidst the mountains.

Is AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) a concern?

Since the itinerary includes gradual acclimatization, AMS is not a major issue. However, travelers should stay hydrated, avoid overexertion, and inform the team in case of any discomfort.

What is the group size?

We keep our groups small and intimate (8–15 participants) to ensure personal attention and a deeper cultural experience.

How can I reach Shimla for the starting point?

Shimla is well connected by:

  • Flight: The nearest airport is Chandigarh (approx. 120 km from Shimla).
  • Train: The Kalka–Shimla toy train offers a scenic and UNESCO-listed journey.
  • Road: Regular Volvo and HRTC buses operate from Delhi and Chandigarh.

Do I need any permits for Spiti in winter?

Indian nationals do not require permits for Spiti. Foreign nationals need permits for some parts of the valley, which can be arranged.
