The lack of life gives everything an almost eerie like feel. No insects, very few birds, frozen vegetation, and little ambient noise.. Just about the only things on the move are the tough, furry critters who battle for survival until spring. It makes encounters with such animals so much more of an intimate experience, often feeling as if it's
