Step into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary with the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek – a Himalayan journey that blends breathtaking mountain views, vibrant culture, and dramatic landscapes into one unforgettable adventure.

This legendary trail takes you through lush rhododendron forests, cascading waterfalls, terraced farmlands, and traditional Gurung villages, where every bend offers a new perspective of the mighty Annapurna Range. As you climb higher, the air grows crisp, the sound of glacial rivers follows you, and the peaks of Machapuchare (Fishtail) and Annapurna South draw you closer with every step.

Your journey culminates in the magical Annapurna Sanctuary – a high-altitude amphitheater where you stand surrounded by towering giants on all sides: Annapurna I (8,091 m), Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and the sacred Machapuchare. Few trekking destinations on earth offer such a 360° panorama at such close range.

The highlight is reaching Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m), where dawn breaks with an explosion of colors – golden light washing over snow-clad peaks, turning the entire sanctuary into a glowing cathedral of ice. It’s a moment of stillness and awe that stays with you forever.

Along the way, you’ll experience the warmth of Nepalese hospitality, savor local delicacies, and witness the unique culture and traditions of the Gurung people, making this trek not just a physical challenge but a deeply cultural experience.

ITINERARY

Day 1Arrival in Pokhara.

Altitude: Pokhara– 1300 m.

Your journey begins in Pokhara, the picturesque lakeside city nestled in the shadow of the Annapurna range. As you step out of the airport, the first glimpse of snow-dusted peaks against the blue sky sets the tone for your adventure. Stroll along Phewa Lake, watch boats glide across the water, and see Machapuchare (Fishtail) mirrored perfectly in its surface. The streets of Lakeside are buzzing with trekkers, cozy cafés, and gear shops — the perfect prelude to the days ahead. Spend the evening preparing for the trek, organizing your gear, and soaking in the excitement.

Day 2Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and Trek To Ghandruk.

Drive Distance: 42 Km.approx. | Drive Duration: 2 hrs approx.| Trek Distance: 7 km approx. | Trek Duration: 3-4 hours approx. | Altitude: Nayapul– 1070 m. | Ghandruk– 2000 m. | GPS DATA

After an early breakfast, drive to Nayapul, where your trekking adventure officially begins. The trail starts gently, following a river through terraced fields and small hamlets. The air smells of fresh earth and blooming flowers as you cross suspension bridges and pass cheerful children shouting “Namaste!” By early afternoon, you climb into the beautifully preserved Gurung village of Ghandruk, famous for its stone houses, traditional culture, and sweeping mountain views. The sunset here is magical, with Annapurna South glowing crimson as dusk settles over the valley.

Day 3Trek from Nayapul to Sinuwa.

Trek Distance: 11 km approx.  | Trek Duration: 6-7 hrs approx. | Altitude: Sinuwa – 2260 m. | GPS DATA

Today’s trek takes you deep into the heart of the hills. Descend to Kimrong Khola, then begin a gradual ascent through forests alive with bird calls. In spring, the trail is a burst of color with rhododendrons in full bloom. The village of Chhomrong marks the last permanent settlement on this route, and the views from here are some of the finest — Annapurna South and Machapuchare tower above you. After a steep descent to cross Chhomrong Khola on a swaying suspension bridge, climb stone steps that seem endless until you reach Sinuwa, perched high on the ridge.

Day 4Trek from Sinuwa to Deurali.

Trek Distance: 12 km approx.  | Trek Duration: 6-7 hrs approx. | Altitude: Deurali– 3200 m. | GPS DATA

The trail winds through lush bamboo groves, where sunlight filters softly through the canopy. Pass through the small villages of Bamboo and Dovan, stopping for tea breaks with views of cascading waterfalls and the Modi Khola rushing below. As you gain altitude, the vegetation thins and the landscape becomes wilder and more rugged. You cross avalanche-prone sections carefully, surrounded by towering cliffs on both sides. By the time you reach Deurali, the valley feels more open, and the peak of Machapuchare dominates the horizon like a sentinel. The night sky here is dazzling with stars, as you are now well above 3,000 m.

Day 5Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp Via Machhapuchhre Base Camp.

Trek Distance: 8 km approx. | Trek Duration: 5-6 hrs approx. | Altitude: Annapurna Base Camp – 4130m. | Machhapuchhre Base Camp– 3700 m. | GPS DATA

This is the most exciting day of your trek. A steady but moderate climb leads you to Machapuchare Base Camp, where the views are already breathtaking — Machapuchare, Gangapurna, and Annapurna South stand like sentinels. From here, the valley opens wide, and you enter the sacred Annapurna Sanctuary. The silence is broken only by the sound of your footsteps and the wind. Step by step, you approach Annapurna Base Camp, and when you finally arrive, the 360° view of towering peaks leaves you speechless — Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Machapuchare, and Gangapurna all rise dramatically around you. As the sun sets, the peaks turn a glowing shade of gold and pink — an unforgettable sight that will stay with you forever.

Day 6Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo.

Trek Distance: 12-13 km approx. | Trek Duration: 8-9 hrs approx. | Altitude: Bamboo – 2300 m. | GPS DATA

Wake before dawn for one of the highlights of the trek — the sunrise at Annapurna Base Camp. As the first light hits the peaks, the mountains slowly come alive, changing colors from deep purple to bright gold. After breakfast, you begin the descent, retracing your steps past MBC, Deurali, and Himalaya. The air grows warmer and richer in oxygen, and you notice greenery returning to the landscape. After a long but satisfying day, you reach Bamboo, where the dense forest provides a cozy and quiet stop for the night.

Day 7Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Hot Spring.

Trek Distance: 8 km approx. | Trek Duration: 5-6 hrs approx. | Altitude: Jhinu- 1700 m. | GPS DATA

Today’s trek takes you through familiar sections of Sinuwa and Chhomrong, but with a new perspective as you are now descending. After a steep descent from Chhomrong, you reach Jhinu Danda, a charming village perched above the river. A short downhill walk leads you to the natural hot springs — the perfect way to soak away muscle fatigue while listening to the sound of the river rushing by.

Day 8Trek from Jhinu to Nayapul and Drive to Pokhara.

Trek Distance: 12 km approx. | Trek Duration: 5-6 hrs approx. | Drive Distance: 42 Km.approx. | Drive Duration: 2 hrs approx.|  Altitude: Nayapul- 1070m.| Pokhara: 1300 m. | GPS DATA

The final leg of the trek follows the river through small villages and farmlands until you reach Nayapul. Your trekking adventure officially ends here, where a vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to Pokhara. As you reach the city, the comforts of civilization — a hot shower, a warm bed, and a delicious meal — feel well-earned. In the evening, celebrate your achievement by enjoying a peaceful boat ride on Phewa Lake or simply sipping coffee with mountain views.

Day 9Departure from Pokhara.

Farewell to the Annapurnas

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before departing. As you leave Pokhara, take one last look at the Annapurna range — a final reminder of the incredible journey you’ve just completed.

How do I reach Kathmandu, Nepal?

1. By Air (Most Popular & Easiest Way)

🚍 Indian travelers often prefer this if coming from UP, Bihar, or Bengal.
