ITINERARY

Day 1Arrive at Leh.

Altitude: Leh – 3500 m.

Your winter adventure begins the moment you land at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh, one of the world’s highest airports, surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks. Upon arrival, our team will welcome you and assist with a comfortable transfer to your hotel.

Since Leh sits at a high altitude of 3,500 meters, it is essential to spend the day acclimatizing and relaxing. Avoid strenuous activities and focus on hydrating well to help your body adjust to the thin mountain air.

Take time to enjoy the stunning winter landscape — snow-dusted mountains, crisp blue skies, and the serene ambience of the Leh valley. If you feel up to it, take a gentle stroll around the town to get a first glimpse of local life. You can explore the Leh bazaar, sip traditional butter tea, or admire the majestic Himalayan backdrop from your hotel.

As evening falls, the sky transforms into a star-studded canvas, offering a magical introduction to Ladakh in winter. Gather for a welcome briefing by your trek leader, who will provide an overview of the Chadar Trek, essential safety guidelines, and tips for staying warm during the expedition.

Day 2Acclimatization at Leh.

Today is dedicated to acclimatization, a critical step for a safe high-altitude trek. Begin your day with a leisurely breakfast, hydrating well to prepare your body for the thin mountain air. Take an easy walk around Leh, breathing in the crisp winter air, and explore the Shanti Stupa, perched on a hill offering panoramic views of the snow-dusted valley.

If the weather permits, visit the Leh Palace, a 17th-century architectural marvel, or stroll through the local bazaar, where you can sample traditional Ladakhi snacks and warm butter tea. In the evening, your trek leader will conduct a pre-trek briefing, discussing the itinerary, safety precautions, gear checks, and tips for walking on ice and snow.

A vital day for ensuring everyone is medically fit for the extreme winter conditions. Undergo a comprehensive medical check-up, including vital signs, oxygen levels, and fitness assessment. This is also the time to finalize your trekking gear, check snow boots, crampons, and other essentials.
