The Dayara Bugyal Trek is one of the most picturesque and rewarding high-altitude treks in Uttarakhand, perfect for trekkers of all experience levels. Situated at an altitude of around 11,800 feet (3,600 meters), this trek is famed for its endless rolling meadows, panoramic Himalayan vistas, and a trail that seamlessly blends natural beauty with cultural charm.
The word “Bugyal” translates to meadow in the local Garhwali language, and Dayara truly lives up to its name. In summer, these alpine pastures come alive with vibrant wildflowers, while in winter, they transform into pristine snowfields—ideal for snow trekking and even skiing. The expansive meadows stretch as far as the eye can see, surrounded by dense forests, rocky ridgelines, and towering Himalayan giants.
The trail winds through ancient oak, maple, and rhododendron forests, charming Garhwali villages, and bubbling mountain streams. As you ascend, you’re rewarded with breathtaking views of iconic peaks such as Bandarpunch, Kala Nag (Black Peak), Srikanth, and Draupadi ka Danda. Each day on the trail offers something new—from peaceful forest walks to open ridgelines with 360° mountain views.
Beyond its natural beauty, the trek is known for its easy-to-moderate gradient, making it ideal for first-time trekkers, families, or anyone looking for a short yet immersive Himalayan experience. Its well-marked trails, easy accessibility from Dehradun or Uttarkashi, and stunning campsites make it one of the most accessible high-altitude treks in India.
Whether you’re chasing wildflowers in summer, snow in winter, or golden meadows in autumn, Dayara Bugyal offers a soulful escape into the heart of the Garhwal Himalayas. It’s not just a trek—it’s a journey through changing landscapes, timeless villages, and serene solitude that stays with you long after the trail ends.
