Arrive in Leh, the gateway to the majestic Himalayas and the starting point of your Kang Yatse II adventure. As you step out of the airport, the crisp mountain air and stunning views of barren mountains instantly make you feel you’re in a different world. Our team will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.
The first day is dedicated entirely to rest and acclimatization — crucial for your body to adapt to the thin air at 3,500 m. Avoid exertion, stay well-hydrated, and let your body settle into the rhythm of Ladakh’s high altitude. In the evening, take a gentle stroll around Leh market or simply relax at your hotel while soaking in views of Stok Kangri and surrounding peaks.

Today is dedicated to proper acclimatization – an essential step for a successful climb. After breakfast, you can take a relaxed hike to Shanti Stupa or Leh Palace to gently get your body moving and improve oxygen intake. In the afternoon, join your trek leader for a comprehensive expedition briefing where you’ll discuss the route, safety protocols, and summit strategy. A detailed gear check will ensure everyone is well-prepared and equipped for the upcoming days in the mountains.

After an early breakfast, we set out on a scenic drive from Leh to Skiu, passing through rugged landscapes, dramatic gorges, and charming villages that showcase Ladakh’s raw beauty. The drive takes you along the Indus and Zanskar river confluence – a sight worth stopping for a quick photo – before entering the Markha Valley.
At Skiu, we begin our first day of trekking. The trail follows the Markha River, with gentle ascents and a few stream crossings along the way. The path is flanked by willow trees, wild rose bushes, and tiny hamlets that give you a glimpse into Ladakhi life. You might even spot locals tending to their fields or herding livestock.
By late afternoon, we reach Sara campsite, a peaceful spot surrounded by mountains and the soothing sound of the river. This is a great day to settle into your trekking rhythm and enjoy your first night under a sky full of stars.

Today, the trek takes you deeper into the serene Markha Valley, where towering peaks rise dramatically on either side. The trail meanders along the Markha River, crossing quaint wooden suspension bridges and passing golden barley fields that shimmer in the sunlight.
As you walk, take in the peaceful landscapes, the crisp mountain air, and occasional sightings of blue sheep (bharal) or playful marmots along the trail. By mid-afternoon, you reach the village of Markha, the largest settlement in the valley and the cultural heart of this region. The village is dotted with traditional Ladakhi houses, Buddhist prayer flags fluttering in the wind, and a small monastery adding to the spiritual ambiance.
Settle into your campsite, enjoy a warm meal, and soak in the surrounding alpine beauty.

Today’s trek takes you further into the high Himalayas, with the landscape gradually becoming more rugged and dramatic. The trail passes ancient monasteries, chortens, and prayer walls, giving you a glimpse of the spiritual heritage of the Markha Valley.
Along the way, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Kang Yatse peaks and the surrounding Zanskar mountains, providing plenty of opportunities for photography. As you gain altitude, the air grows crisper, and the terrain shifts from green pastures to barren, rocky slopes.
By late afternoon, arrive at Lower Hankar, one of the last villages in the valley. The small settlement is a peaceful stop with welcoming locals, traditional stone houses, and spectacular mountain views. Settle into camp, relax, and savor the serenity of this high-altitude village.

Today is one of the most visually stunning days of the expedition. The trail gradually ascends from Lower Hankar, passing rugged terrain and high-altitude pastures dotted with grazing yaks. The landscape opens up to the vast Nimaling Plains, an expansive high-altitude plateau surrounded by towering peaks, with Kang Yatse dominating the skyline.
As you trek, take in the changing colors of the mountains, the crisp alpine air, and the occasional sightings of wildlife like blue sheep and marmots. Nimaling is a breathtakingly beautiful campsite, offering a sense of isolation, peace, and closeness to the mountains that is hard to find elsewhere. This high-altitude plateau is the perfect spot to rest and acclimatize further before the upcoming summit attempt.

Today’s trek is short in distance but challenging due to the altitude. As you leave Nimaling, the trail becomes steeper and more rugged, with rocky terrain and patches of snow in places. Every step brings you closer to the towering Kang Yatse II, whose impressive slopes dominate the skyline.
Upon reaching Base Camp, you’ll be surrounded by a stark, high-altitude environment that is both awe-inspiring and humbling. Spend the evening preparing your gear, reviewing mountaineering techniques, and getting familiar with the route for the summit push. The high camp offers incredible views of the surrounding peaks, and the crisp mountain air reminds you that the summit is within reach.

Today is a crucial acclimatization and preparation day. The short distance allows your body to adjust to the thin high-altitude air while giving you time to hone essential mountaineering skills. Under the guidance of experienced expedition leaders, you’ll learn the proper use of crampons, ice axes, and rope techniques, as well as basic safety procedures for high-altitude climbing.
This day is also a mental preparation for the summit push — familiarizing yourself with the terrain, understanding the route, and building confidence in your climbing abilities. Take in the majestic views of Kang Yatse II and surrounding peaks, while resting your muscles and letting your body adapt fully to the high altitude.

Step by step, you ascend using your crampons and ice axe, each breath a reminder of the altitude. As dawn breaks, the surrounding mountains glow in shades of gold and pink, motivating you for the final push. The descent to Chokdo is gradual, winding through rugged terrain, small streams, and alpine meadows, giving you time to reflect on your incredible journey. At Chokdo, a vehicle awaits to drive you back to Leh, where the comforts of a hotel and a warm meal await. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have a leisurely morning in Leh to explore the local markets, pick up souvenirs, or simply soak in the stunning mountain views one last time.

Payment & Booking Policy
A booking fee of ₹5,000 is required to confirm your spot. The remaining trek fee must be paid at least 15 days before the trek start date. If the full payment is not received on time, your booking may be cancelled. The ₹5,000 booking fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Yes. Kang Yatse is a technical expedition (6250 m) that requires prior high-altitude trekking experience (above 4,000 m) and basic knowledge of mountaineering techniques like the use of crampons, ice axe, and rope walking. Good physical fitness is mandatory.
Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL) is the main airport in Leh, well-connected to major Indian cities.
Regular flights operate from Delhi, Srinagar, and Chandigarh.
Flight duration: Delhi → Leh ~1.5 hrs; Srinagar → Leh ~1 hr.
Tip: Book flights in advance, especially during the trekking season (June–September). Flights are weather-dependent, so plan for possible delays.

In Leh, you’ll have all the networks and internet.
Once the trek starts, network and internet connectivity will not be available beyond Solang Valley. Be prepared to be off-grid.
Absolutely. At Nomadic World, safety is our top priority. Our expeditions are led by certified mountaineers, with proper safety gear, trained support staff, and small groups to ensure individual attention. Many solo travellers and women successfully join this expedition.
Children: Not recommended. Kang Yatse is a technical expedition requiring prior mountaineering experience, physical strength, and high-altitude acclimatization. Minimum age: 18 years.
Senior Citizens: Can participate only if they have prior high-altitude trekking/mountaineering experience, excellent fitness levels, and a mandatory medical fitness certificate. Consultation with a doctor before booking is strongly advised.
