The Sar Pass Trek is one of the most rewarding Himalayan journeys for trekkers who want a perfect mix of challenge, beauty, and pure adventure. In just 5 days, you experience an incredible transformation in landscapes — from the buzzing backpacker haven of Kasol to the peaceful charm of Grahan Village, followed by dense pine forests, vibrant rhododendron trails, mystical meadows of Mini Thach, and the dramatic snowfields of Nagaru. Reaching Sar Pass gives you a breathtaking 360° view of towering Himalayan peaks, but the real thrill begins with the iconic snow slide — a safe yet adrenaline-filled experience you won’t forget. The trek is designed for beginners, requires no technical skills, and is guided by experienced trek leaders who ensure safety at every step. Whether you’re seeking adventure, natural beauty, a break from routine, or your first big Himalayan achievement, Sar Pass delivers an unforgettable experience that stays with you long after the journey ends.
Trek Distance: 8 km approx. | Trek Duration: 5-6 hours approx. | Altitude: Grahan Village – 2350m | Pick up point: Wonder Wood Camp, Kasol | GPS DATA
Your journey begins from Wonder Wood Camp, Kasol, where the trail starts by gently ascending through pine forests, wooden bridges, and scenic riverside paths. The sound of the Parvati River follows you as you step deeper into the wilderness. The trail is well-marked and passes through small clearings and forested sections filled with birdsong, making it a refreshing start to the trek.
As you approach Grahan Village, the forest opens up into terraced fields and traditional Himalayan homes. Grahan is a charming remote village known for its warm hospitality, thriving culture, and stunning mountain views. Spend your evening exploring narrow alleys, interacting with locals, and enjoying your first night in the Himalayas.
Trek Distance: 5-6 km approx. | Trek Duration: 6-7 hours approx. | Altitude: Mini Thach – 3400m | GPS DATA
After breakfast, leave the village trails behind and enter deep forests as the path becomes steeper and more rugged. The ascent gradually takes you into denser pine and rhododendron zones, with occasional openings offering beautiful views of the surrounding valleys. The climb from Grahan is steady and demands a good pace and hydration.
By the time you reach Mini Thach, you arrive at a vast alpine meadow surrounded by towering mountains. This beautiful campsite presents open skies, grazing grounds, and peaceful silence—perfect for stargazing and unwinding after a demanding ascent.
Trek Distance:5 km approx. | Trek Duration: 4-5hrs approx. | Altitude: Nagaru – 3800m | GPS DATA
Today’s trek is short but steep as you make your way toward one of the highest camps of the trek. The trail begins with a steady climb through dense forests before transitioning into open snow patches (depending on the season). Once you cross the tree line, panoramic views of the Parvati Valley slowly begin to unfold.
Nagaru sits perched on a ridge, offering breathtaking views of snow-clad peaks and deep valleys below. Cold winds are frequent due to the altitude, making this a challenging but rewarding stay. Spend the evening resting in your warm tents and preparing for the most thrilling day of the trek—your Sar Pass crossing.
Trek Distance: 10-12 km approx. | Trek Duration: 4-5hrs approx. | Altitude: Sar Pass – 4206m | Biskeri Thach – 3350m | GPS DATA
Start early before dawn as you begin your ascent to Sar Pass. The trail is completely covered in snow for most of the year, creating a magical white corridor as the sun rises over the mountains. The climb is steady but requires patience and proper pacing. As you gain height, the Himalayan panorama becomes spectacular—with endless ridgelines, snowfields, and shimmering peaks.
At the Sar Pass summit (4,206 m), you’re rewarded with one of the most surreal views of the entire Parvati Range. After absorbing the breathtaking landscape, begin the thrilling snow slide descent, one of the signature experiences of the Sar Pass trek. The descent leads into lush meadows and eventually to Biskeri Thach, a vast green grassland surrounded by towering mountains and pine forests.
Trek Distance: 10-12 km approx. | Trek Duration: 8-9 hrs approx. | Altitude: Barshaini – 2210m | Kasol – 1580m | GPS DATA
The final day of the trek takes you through descending trails filled with dense forests, waterfalls, and scenic bridges. The route passes through isolated villages like Pulga and Tulga, giving you a glimpse of traditional Himachali mountain life. The path gradually widens and leads you to Barshaini, the exit point of the Sar Pass trail.
At Barshaini, vehicles will be waiting to take you back to Kasol, where you can relax, enjoy a warm meal, or stroll through the vibrant market—celebrating the successful completion of an iconic Himalayan trek.
